# Sequences overview

> How email sequences work in Gatrevo.

A sequence is a series of timed emails sent to a contact over a period of days. Gatrevo creates and manages sequences automatically as part of your campaign setup.

## How sequences are created

When you start a campaign, Gatrevo creates a sequence that matches your campaign goals — number of steps, wait days between emails, and email types (cold email, follow-up, break-up email). You can customise these in your rep preferences or during campaign setup.

## Sequence steps

Each step in a sequence has:

* **Subject line** — unique per step (or A/B tested)
* **Body** — generated by Gatrevo, editable by you
* **Wait days** — how many days after the previous step to send
* **Step type** — email, LinkedIn message (if configured)

## Automatic pausing

Sequences pause automatically when:

* **A prospect replies** — Gatrevo detects the reply and stops further emails
* **A meeting is booked** — via Calendly or HubSpot deal stage change
* **A bounce is detected** — the contact's email address is invalid

You'll get a Slack notification when any of these happen.

## Viewing sequence performance

Go to **Sequences** in the dashboard to see:

* Enrolled / opened / replied counts per sequence
* Per-step performance
* Individual contact status within a sequence

## Native sender vs Apollo

If you're using Gatrevo's **native sender** (Gmail or Outlook), sequences are managed entirely by Gatrevo — scheduling, sending, tracking, and reply detection all happen inside Gatrevo.

If you're using **Apollo**, Gatrevo creates the sequence and enrolls contacts in Apollo. Sequence management (pausing, editing steps) then happens in Apollo.
